Academics

At Warrensburg Christian School, our goal is to establish a positive and nurturing learning environment where students are able to succeed academically, reason independently, think constructively and become compassionate members of society. Our teachers are highly trained and skilled at various types of teaching methods and use these methods to reach all types of learners. Every child has the right to succeed at education and it is our responsibility to ensure that they are able to reach their full potential. At WCS we feel that exposing our students to God, Christianity and the Bible is also a very important part of guiding them to a meaningful and fulfilling life. We utilize the Abeka curriculum to educate our students because it's teachings are centered around a biblical foundation.

Preschool Academics

In our Preschool Program at WCS we have the same mission and goal to teach our children as seen above. In preschool we use a curriculum called The Emerging Language and Literacy Curriculum (ELLC). The ELLC prepares preschoolers for success in kindergarten and gives them a strong foundation in oral language and literacy with this scientifically-based curriculum. This program not only addresses all developmental domains with theme-based units, children's literature, multi-sensory activities, scaffolded instruction and parental involvement but also creates an engaging environment with activity and play-based learning.

The ELLC goals for children are as follows:

ï‚· To develop self-awareness through interaction with children and adults in a planned learning environment

ï‚· To build on prior knowledge, construct new knowledge and practice skills in an interactive environment

ï‚· To expand abilities in all developmental domains: social/emotional, physical/motor, cognitive/academic, and language/literacy

ï‚· To develop foundational skills for emergent language and literacy

ï‚· To acquire knowledge and skills consistent with school readiness

At WCS we have seen the success this play-based learning curriculum has had on our students and like its versatility for all types of learners. If you have any questions on our preschool curriculum, please use the contact information linked here.
