Development and Sensory Play

Children hit some amazing developmental milestones in the first few years of life.

In the first 18 months alone they learn to:
• Crawl, climb and walk
• Grab, hold, and manipulate
• Speak, understand words, and recognize different sounds
• Discern shapes, patterns, and spatial relations

Little brains are built and grow through touch, talk, sight and sound in early childhood experiences. At Warrensburg Christian School even our youngest students are provided with a multitude of experiences that encourage their total development. Safe, yet fun, sensory bags, bins (typically containing edible elements), and crafts/activities are introduced for their quickly developing curiosity. Sensory play helps babies to learn more about the world around them and supports language development as they learn to respond to different stimuli.
